Hellooooo! Can you believe it's the end of another month? Where did that go then? In fact I can't believe how fast these summer holidays have whooshed by. The kids go back to school this week! I have thoroughly enjoyed these holidays: the lack of routine, the company of the big smalls, and the freedom to 'be' in our home, as well as sharing nice times with friends and family.
●●●●●●
What's been happening this month in the Wrinkly household then? Well, this was the month I was diagnosed as having asthma. I have been prone to chest infections for some years now (I've had pleurisy more times than I care to remember) and when I was still struggling with my breathing at the end of the last one, the doctor prescribed an inhaler to see it if helped. It did.

During last month, the doctor asked me to do a month's peak flow readings in the mornings and evenings, and take the results (plotted on a graph which came with the meter) back to her. She took one look at it and pronounced it as a 'classic' pattern for asthma. So ... I now have two inhalers, have had a pneumonia vaccination (ok at the time, but boy did my arm ache for a few days afterwards!) and have to go and see an asthma nurse for a total overhaul next month. The doctor thinks it likely that I've had untreated asthma for some time. Hopefully now that it's 'managed' I will be less prone to problems.
If anyone reading is an asthmatic, I'd be happy to hear any tips or advice you might have for me.
●●●●●●
I'd like to be able to say I've done oodles of 'making' this month. But I can't. Because I haven't. I've done no more knitting for the blanket, but I have done a little bit of sewing. Nothing for me, but I've helped No.1 with her holiday homework. Yes it's her homework, but she needed a hand with it. It's not quite finished yet, but I will take pictures and post them here at a later date.
I also made this bag:-

July was my second blogaversary, so I decided to make something and have a retrospective giveaway. The kids were away with their dad, so I put the names of all those who commented on my July round up in a bowl, and picked out a winner myself:-

If you'd like the bag, it's yours Michaela. Can you email me an address, and I'll get it sent off to you sometime in the next few days weeks. Thank you to all those who have commented during my sabbatical - I really appreciate it - x.

I am continuing to work on the garden, and have planted my first rose. It is a variety named 'Tickled Pink' - I like its name as much as its flower. Here is a photo of one of the blooms:-

Yes, I'm still taking lots of pictures. I've been to the local Camera Club some more times, and also attended their separate Digital Group, where I started to learn some very handy stuff about Photoshop. I really really need to get to grips with that program - will blog about that soon too.
One of the meetings I attended was a 'Battle'. I had no idea what this meant and had visions of flash bulbs at 10 paces. But no - two clubs submit a set number of photos and a visiting Judge (in this case a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society) comes in and talks about what he does and doesn't like in each photo, and advises how they could be improved. For a complete beginner like me, it was extremely informative.
Everyone I've met through the Camera Club so far has been nothing other than friendly, helpful and welcoming; which is nice, because I was sooo nervous about being a 'new girl'. I'll still be the new girl for a while yet of course, but at least those first few visits are done.

I have before sung the praises of Dell on this blog, and want to do so again. I have for some time now been wanting to upgrade the RAM on the kids' desktop, and on my laptop too. The prices for 'memory modules' have come down so much that it began to appear like I might be able to afford to do the upgrade this summer. Not being terribly 'savvy' when it comes to computers, I did the easy thing - I went on to the Dell site and clicked on the 'Hardware Chat' option. I spoke to a very polite chap called Sourav who explained that the lappy (an Inspiron 1521) would need matching pairs of modules to be inserted, whilst the desktop (an Inspiron 530) could just be 'topped up'. After giving Sourav the service tags of my machines, he ordered the necessary bits for me, and what's more he sent me an email which told me how to install the new memory - it even had pictures, so I wouldn't be too confused.
The new modules arrived and I fitted them both myself; yes that's right - fitted them myself! Whilst fiddly, (had to take off the lid hinge and keyboard) the laptop one was easy peasy lemon squeezy - half an hour from beginning to end. The desktop one was trickier, mainly because I first took off the wrong side of the tower *blush* and then because I couldn't push the thingies down hard enough - I was scared of damaging them. Eventually I managed it, and we are enjoying our whizzy pootas.

We've done lots of nice things this month, but the best was a day trip to the seaside. For various reasons, I hadn't seen the sea for 4 years, and was absolutely desperate to visit it. We went for a good old family day out down to Bournemouth with my mum and brother, and had a fantabulous time.

The weather was kind, the sea was calm, we had a lovely packed lunch on the beach, and after an extensive paddle, I took eleventy billion photographs. Just to practice with the new camera, you understand. Actually, I've got some really fabulous photos of the kids, as well as some of the beach and surroundings.

On the seafront there was a Formula 1 'ride' which my brother and No.2 eyed keenly. Thus, on the way back to the car, they were to be found paying their money and getting on board. They went inside a sort of 'capsule' in which they watched a screen of an F1 'drive'. The capsule rocked and leaned, etc. to give them a feel for what it would be like to be in a car going round a track. They both emerged with huge smiles on their faces, so I guess they enjoyed it. Us girls just sat in the sun and people-watched, seagull-watched, and boat-watched.

No.1, who must be due a growth spurt, such is her appetite at present, then said she was starving so we had a Harry Ramsden's takeaway before heading home. Never had one before, and must say it was jolly delicious. Hopefully it won't be another 4 years before we get back to the seaside.

The monthly round ups lately haven't been complete without mentioning the death of a famous person (or two) who somehow had an impact on my life. August 2009 is no exception as 13th August saw the passing of Les Paul. He was instrumental (pun very much intended) in developing the electric guitar, and as some of you know, I am a huge fan of the 'guitaring' of many modern day rockers.
Apparently Eric Clapton played a Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar on the album 'Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton - John Mayall' (Also known as 'The Beano Album). If Eric Clapton played it, it was good. I'm sure Mr Paul will be remembered by many millions of people across the globe - I'm one of them.

I'm going to edge back towards blogging more regularly from here on. It won't be as regularly as I used to blog, nor will I put myself under pressure to visit AND comment on all my favourite blogs. I will be reading, but not commenting anywhere near as much as I used to. I hope that's ok. I need to make sure I don't get submerged by blogging again - or more accurately, submerged by the (silly, self-imposed) obligation I felt to visit and comment on a zillion blogs a day.
I'll leave you with one of my favourite photos I took this month - a hover fly feasting on a rose:-

Hi Kitty. Cute toes! And lovely pictures. Happy to hear you have enjoyed your summer. You can't beat the seaside can you?
great photo's - we're lucky hubby's dad lives at the seaside so we try to visit as often as we can.
Dell computers are great, wouldn't buy any other make.
At least the dr's have finally diagnosed Asthma, shame its taken so long...
Josie x
Sounds like youve had a fab summer! Stunning last shot of the hover fly! x
Great to see you back and to read all your news Kitty. Some fabulous photos in this post!
I must agree, that final photo is fabulous! Fine work, Kitty.
Oh Kitty, you have such a wonderful knack of turning words into pictures - and talking of pictures, these are lovely. Amazing how the Box Brownie has improved :D
Can I come to you with my poota problems now?
Wow, you've been busy:-) Love your photography!
Oh, and congrats to Michaela- the bag is faboulous!
The picture of the wave is truly lovely. Your toes are very nice too, although a little small for my liking.
Hi Kitty - it sounds like you've all had a lovely summer. Your photos are fabulous! I got an early birthday present from my mum and dad of some money towards a new digital camera as I had broken Dot's one by getting sand in it. On the day I bought the new one we went to the beach............... needless to say, the new camera is now completely kaput :o(

Glad you've got the asthma under control. My 2 year old has asthma... but I have to say... we haven't had any problems with it since she's been off dairy. Glad that you're not putting any pressure on yourself to keep up with everything in the blogging world. Life is more important than computer stuff!!
I've had asthma for years now , it went diagnosed for a long while too - docs tried to tell me it was bad hayfever !!! I try not to go anywhere too dusty and sometimes the weather can set it off, sometimes if it's too close and humid my chest gets really tight, funnily enough I've never had any problems when I've been abroad. Pet hair can affect people too but I'm ok with that. Or if people are spraying things like deodorants or perfumes , that can set it off too. It's hard because what might set it off in one person might not set it off in another. But if you've got any questions I'll try to help . Love the pics by the way ..
I've won that bag? Really? Me? And do I want it? Ooohhhh yes please - it's beautiful! Thank-you so much!
I love all your photos as ever, but that one of the waves is jsut perfect - you could almost taste the salt from the spray. You are one very clever lady.
Welcome back Kitty, glad you've had a good Summer
twiggy x
Lovely to know you're still around and that you have had a good school hols. Can't believe they go back this week, although for the first time ever, I'm glad to be going back myself. I need something to take my mind off stuff in my life, if you know what I mean?!
Lovely photos.
Look forward to reading you a little more often.
Burby x
Hello there beautiful! My kiddo's start back up to school tomorrow and I am more nervous than they are. #2 starts middle school, which is a new school and I am not really good with change I am afraid. lol. #1 has been in the same school for 14 years and will be till he turns 21 and #2 had been in the same elementary school for 6 years...so I am super creeped out. Uniforms now, girls starting to look at him...and today we found a zit on his face! Ack!
Your photography is looking smashing....just brilliant. So nice you found something to go do and relax with...even socialize. Blogging is great when you are stuck in the house and it can fill a void, but if you can get out into the real world and document it...much better of course. Even better...that you have nice material to show off on your blog!
So sorry about the asthma...but glad they got it diagnosed and you are being treated. I am still in the middle of "something" with no name and dropping weight like mad (not the good way.) Bunch more appointments coming up and it's kinda stressing me out along with a bunch of stuff that has been going on. But hanging in there.
Hubby for my big 40 that is in Sept is having me pick out a bunch of pottery via Etsy for my kitchen. What I always wanted. Just hung shelves today for stuff that is coming in the mail all week. Already got some in! Will post soon.
Your rose is beautiful...I try to grow some tiny yellow ones, but the beetles always let me have one or two and eat the rest!
Alright now, I just blogged on your blog...but as usual, miss you like mad, but so happy you are doing so well!
Hugs to you and the big smalls...good luck with the new school year!
Namaste...
Hi Kitty
Its great to read a blog post from you again. I just wonder at the Dell bit. Do you read menopausal Musing? She's ahd to shut her blog because her Dell computer has a fault that Dell won't fix . Its such a pity. You can still access her through reader and she has reclaimed the name after deleting her blog in desperation. I wonder if your nice man could sort her out.
I spent a two week holiday in Bournemouth when my boys were about 10 and 7 and my husband was working there. We had a lovely time in the park on wednesday night at the 'illuminations'.Its a lovely genteel resort isn't it?
BTW, anyone who couted played Les Paul
blimey.you have been busy!!!
love those toes!!!LOL
Yes, your pictures are beautiful!I would love to go the English beach next year, it seems like you had a lovely day! Sorry abouth the asthma.. wouldn't it be great if going to the beach or spending time crafting could be the medicine.
Great to read your news, as always.
No great tips to offer about the asthma...but, my DH is a very bad asthmatic and the one thing we are very aware of are the allergens that can set it off. It might be worth get some sort of allergy screening to see if you are allergic to anything as they may be part of the trigger. For instance my DH is very allergy to cats and dogs and even being in a house where they are can trigger an attack.
Looks like you are learning a lot of the photographic front...I'd have love to be there to hear the judges comments. I hope perhaps on your return to blogging you might share some of what you are learning :o)
Just a week to go til the kids return to school...and I to work..I have so enjoyed the break, but it will be nice to get the house back to "normal".
TTFN
lovely post Kitty, really nice to catch up with you! I love bournemouth, haven't been for a couple of years athough my daughter loves shopping down there and goes once a month or so with her mates. Am so sorry to hear you've got asthema - my hubby had it up til he was 14 and then it just went apparently. I'm sure you'll get lots of tips and advice from fellow bloggers.
I bow down before you on the computer technology - i'm such a technophobe there's no way i could have done all that!!!
xxxxxxxxxxxx
What a packed month you have had! Not an asthmatic but if you are using a steroid inhaler be sure to rinse your mouth out afterward each time to avoid oral thrush. When you get to a 'certain age' the steroids can affect your bones (talk to your pharmacist perhaps when the time arrives). Do always mention the asthma when you are buying any medicines, just to make sure you're not buying anything that might irritate it.
I was thinking about you just yesterday and hoping you were OK. Sorry to hear about the asthma, but at least now you're diagnosed you can get help when you need it.
Your summer sounds like ours! Where did all the weeks go?
Nice to see you back Kitty! As for the asthma, my ex had it from childhood and needed inhalers. He found dairy products tended to increase the difficulties he had (apparently it can produce more muscus erghhh!) So tended to stick to soya products and rice milk. Also sudden changes in temperatures didn't help either - eg getting out of a warm shower, coming from warm to cold etc...
Otherwise he seemed to manage it really well and, with a good healthy balanced diet and yoga breathing excercises he found he rarely needed his inhalers except in the colder winter months.
Anway, as for blogging, I have got my blogging fingers on. But, luckily, as noone really visits me I don't have zillions to respond to like yourself!!!
Much love

Hello 1,2,3 - Thank you! It's been a lovely summer, despite the less than lovely weather we've had for quite a lot of it. The seaside was fab - I would really like to live at the seaside one day. x
Hi Josie - Thank you. Oh how nice, to have an excuse to go to the seaside so regularly. I've not had problems with Dell so far - *touches wood* The winter will be telling as regards the asthma diagnosis - I have dreaded colds in the past few years because they seem to have left me with troublesome chest infections. Fingers crossed that might not happen in future! x
Hello Suzy - It's been a lovely summer thank you. How was yours? Thank you - a compliment on a photo from your expert photographer self is a real treat :-D x
Hi Gina - Lovely to see you too. Thank you for the compliment. x
Hello there Mr Cat - Thank you very much! Hope you and yours are all good? x
Hello there Mr B - Thank you so much. As with Suzy, a compliment on the photos from someone who themselves takes belting snaps, is a real treat. Regarding the poota problems ... erm, possibly not. :-p x
Hi Marit - Yes, we've been busy. Thank you, so glad you like the pictures. x
Hi Mr Bananas - why thank you. You are not a fan of the petite foot? Perhaps the female gorilla has big, fat, long ones?! x
Hello lovely Lucy - we have had a very lovely summer thank you. Oh no, that's bad news about the camera :( I believe Panasonic do compact cameras which are especially good at being 'waterproof' and beach-proof? Perhaps you need to make a camera case before you venture out with any new camera? I hope you get another one at some point as I love to see the pictures of Locket land. x
Hi Maree - I'm not sure it's under control, but at least it's recognised. Yes, I've heard cutting down on dairy might help - hmmmm, I'm a butter fan. And would this also mean no Milky Bar?! :-O I got my knickers in a right old knot over visiting and commenting on blogs - I won't be making the same mistake again! x
Hello Peri - Oh dear, that doesn't sound too good. Like you, the hot and humid weather seems to set me off - that hot spell in early July was when the doctor decided it might be asthma. Also like you, perfumes and aerosol type smellage can have a bad effect. Think we must have the same 'type'! Thanks for the offer of help - I appreciate it. x
Hello Michaela :D Yes, you. You're the winner - of the bag. The bluey bag. I wasn't sure you'd like it because I didn't think it was *your* colours?! So pleased you like it :-D Will get it sent off to you when I've got a couple of little bits to put inside it ;-) x
Hello there Mrs Twigs! Thank you for the welcome back - lovely to see you. x
Hiya Burby! I can totally relate, but please know the middle is worse than the beginning or end, so things will almost certainly get better from here on in. (((B))) Drop me an email if you need a rant ;-) x
Mal Intent - have a big old *mwah* Lovely to see you again. Gosh your kids go back earlier than mine. Who new phase starting for you with your #2. I had that last year with my No.1. It went so fast though - her first year at senior school. I am loving the photography and there are all these people who can teach me so much and who share the passion. I took all my courage to go to that Club on my own, so I'm a bit proud of myself that I did it. Hope you manage to find out what it is that's making you drop the weight like that - that's not good. (((MI))). I'll be over to visit you soon (on your blog that is). Maybe a real visit one day? Who knows? Take care hun. x
Hi Jackie - Thank you. I think I used to read Menopausal Musing now and again. Had to shut her blog because of a problem with Dell? Oh no. Can you give her my email address and get her to email me? If I can help I will, of course. Bournemouth was indeed 'genteel' - nothing too outrageous, just 'nice'. x
Hey Malach! He was a very influential musician, wasn't he? Nice to see you. x
Hi Pesky - Yes, we've been busy but it was good. Take care. x
Hi Heleen - Lovely to see you. Might you be coming over the UK next year? I think perhaps living at the beach really might be beneficial for those with chest problems - the ozone and sea air could be a tonic?! And I do believe crafting is good for anyone who enjoys doing it! x
Hello Jane! Yes, my cousin is not good with animal hair. When she visits she can't stay long because our cat's hair triggers an asthma attack in her. I'm sure there will be a photography group near you - they are all over the country: why not look into it? I'm finding it fascinating. I know what you mean about the house - what a mess ours is!! x
Hello WW - Thank you, lovely to see you. I hadn't been to Bournemouth since I was a child, but it felt 'nice'. I definitely hope to go back. You really, really could have done the computer stuff - if I can do it, anyone could. I just followed the instructions! x
Hi Jenny - Yes we have had a lovely, busy time. Yes, I was told to rinse my mouth out after using the brown inhaler, and always do. Ibuprofen has always made me feel a bit breathless, so I stick to paracetamol painkillers. I guess the tendency has been there for some time? Thanks for your advice. x
Hi DC - lovely to see you. Awww, thank you for thinking about me. Hope you and the girls are well? I don't know where the summer went - do you think someone stole some weeks when we weren't looking?! x
Hi Lily. Lovely to see you. Yes, I've heard that dairy foods can be mucus-forming. I don't have a vast amount of them, but I guess I could cut back on what I do have. The trouble is, dairy = calcium and that's good for my bones! I should get back to the yoga - that might help a lot, thanks for the nudge. I shall be over to visit your blog soon hun. x
Nice to hear from you, as it were. Glad to hear you will be blogging a little more often (when you feel like it) as I enjoy following along, but of course, no pressure... I thinned out a lot of my blogs I check regularly, not because they didn't interest me, but because it was taking just too much time and I kept feeling guilty when I couldn't keep up - how silly is that? And these days, I comment a lot less than I used to, even when I do visit :)
Glad to hear you've had a nice summer - ours, too, has been just about right for once - good length, good variety of activities, good weather... DD1 off to secondary school on Friday (yes, I feel old), the others on Monday, so this week will be the last hurrah!
Lovely to read all your news Kitty. I hope the Asthma check up helps and your chest problems reduced. Gorgeous photos as usual. x
Glad you've had such a lovely summer Kitty and posted the pictures to prove it ;-)
My Mum has asthma which wasn't diagnosed until she was in her fifties! She is now 82 and has an assortment of meds via inhaler but was recently put on a tablet called Singulaire which she thinks is amazing! Still has the inhalers but isn't using them as much.
It'll be wonderful to see more frequent posts from now on, have really missed your 'news'. Hope the big smalls settle back into school happily.
xox
She back--HOORAY! Hi, Kitty! You have been much missed! :o) Great to catch up with you here and your summer Chez Wrinkly. Although I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with asthma. I've no personal experience, sorry...wish I could help. My sister has allergies, and certain types of attacks led her to being in the hospital for asthma-like attacks in addition--not a good combo. I do hope all will go well as you learn to cope with symptoms and treatment. :o) Very lovely bag you've made--love those colors/fabrics. It was so sad to learn of Les Paul's passing. My hubby who is an IT Professional by day, musician by night is in mourning too..Wonderful photos--your sand covered toes, and that last one--gorgeous! Hope you're enjoying the last tastes of summer. It's feeling very much like autumn here. Don't be a stranger! ;o) Happy Days ((HUGS))
Nice nail varnish - and sand - we only have pebbles!
Glad you have had a good summer... as an asthmatic, make sure you drink lots of water... and have you read a book called Your Body's Many Cries for Water... by someone called Batmanghelijg I think... invaluable. Take with a pinch of salt though, as some of his writing is a bit extreme... but make sound sense.
xxx
Yea, to Les Paul... we have a pic of him with Eldest. So sad he has died. But what a man.
Good to see you again - it sounds as though you've had a great summer, apart from the asthma diagnosis. Your mention of Harry Ransden's has made me very hungry indeed! I hope all is well with you. Emma x
Hi - Asthma is something I'v had for years. I've had a few severe bouts but these days as long as I keep my weight/BMI within the normal range, keep relatively fit it's not too bad at all. But, since finding out I was ashmatic I've become aware of what 'trigers' it ; strong perfumes, some paints, adhesives, tree pollen, some moulds (like you get in the autumn on decaying leaves) ... you get the idea. You'll start to find out what affects you, especially if you keep the charts they recommend you to keep.
Lovely bag... and your photographs are quite sublime.
It'll be good to see you around again.
Hi Kate - It sounds like you know exactly where I'm coming from (on more than one count). I felt horribly guilty too - silly is right! My No.1 started secondary school last September: be warned, that first year goes so fast! Lovely to see you. x
Hello Lin! I feel like we have kept in touch a little bit over at Flickr - your photos have been so lovely (mind you, they always were). x
Hello Sharon, you lovely Aussie you. That's interesting about that ashtma medication - thanks for that. I will note it down for the asthma nurse appointment. Neither of the kids is looking forward to school which is nice - I think it means they've enjoyed the holidays as much as I have! Hope all is well with you and yours? x
Hi Tracy! Lovely to see you. How are things? Whenever I see a ginger cat I think of Charlie - and of course, you. Yes, it's definitely starting to feel autumnal here too - more's the pity. But the colder weather will mean more crafting and blogging, so it's not all bad! x
Hello Nan - lovely to see you. I don't think I'd mind pebbles too much. Being near the sea is what *matters*. Hope things are improving for you? x
Hello there LWM - Have never heard of that book, but have now written down the name and will check it out at the library. Thank you for that. I already do drink water (don't drink either tea or coffee) so nice to know I'm doing something right! Lovely to see you. x
Hi Emma! Lovely to see you. Those Harry Ramsden fish and chips were really fabulous, I have to say. Maybe there is one near you? Hope you and the family have all had a lovely summer? Those latest creations of yours are wonderful. x
Hello Julia. Gosh, this asthma business is far more common than I ever realised. I hadn't thought that weight would affect it, but of course you're right. Hmmmm, might need to cut down on the Milky Bars then! That produce you've grown this year all looks so fabulous - well done. The photos are gorgeous too. Take care. x
LOvely pics as usual.
My only advice about asthma is to nip it in the bud. The old saying 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure ' is so true for asthma.
Tickled Pink warms my heart as we have a store here by that name which sells hand made 'princess' dresses and the like. I saved and bought the YC a dress, tiara, slippers and a wand and she still loves that dress. We visit the shop every now and again and she dreams even though she no longer fits their sizes!
Today is my first day of being kidless after having them home for close to 10 weeks! We are also back in to routine and I will miss sleeping until I am done sleeping instead of dragging myself out of bed after the alarm has gone off
Nice shot of the hover fly feasting on a rose!
Hover Fly: nom nom nom... Mmmmm.... tastes like chicken!!
Welcome back to the world of blogdom!
Good to see you back Kitty. What beautiful pictures -- especially the one of the waves and that last gorgeous picture. Looks like you've had a full and busy month. I think we should all just post one day a month -- each on different days -- then it would be so much easier to keep up with everyone, wouldn't it?
I enjoyed reading about your adventures...and seeing the toes in the sand. I love the photo of the fly on the flower. Wow...wonderful.
Thanks for singing praises of Dell. I've been trying to convince Mr Earplugs to get new dims for the lappy and after reading your post he's actually listening to me! Miss Muffett will be over the moon if she gets a whizzier pooter!
Hi Kitty! (catching up finally!!) .. that last pic here, the flower and the hover fly, is absolutely STUNNING!!!!!!! Really amazing.
xx
Hi ATP - Thank you. I am making sure I use the 'preventer' inhaler regularly - it makes a real difference. 'Tickled Pink' is a fabulous name for a shop of posh frocks - I can just picture it. I'm HATING the early morning alarm going off again :( Roll on the October break! x
Hey C - How are you and Mr A and the tiddler all coming on? I searched for Angry Ginger at Facebook - couldn't find him :-( Thanks for your kind comment. x
Hi Ron - Lol - I'm sure that rose would NOT taste like chicken :-p Or only a very 'woody' type of chicken anyway :-D x
Hey Anna! Good to see you too. I like the one day a month suggestion. I'm already struggling to keep up with everyone, but I'm not going to stress. Nope. Won't. Am going to just let it go. x
Hello Colleen - lovely to see you. Thank you. Hope all is well with you and your wonderful quilting. x
Hi Tilly! Woohoo result on the poota issue. Hope you manage to get it sorted. It really was easy. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Fingers crossed you get it done. x
Hi Julia. Awww, thank you. That shot was taken on the compact (IXUS) too - not the posh big camera. Just goes to show, it's sometimes a question of observation and timing rather than the 'hardware'! x
We have to wait until December for our next break, although we do get an extra Monday off in October for Thanks Giving! Could really use a half term though!
I think u hav gud 8th Sense to observe d world.
Its always nice to see world from another individual's mind.
Keep writing i luv ur stuffs.
Hi Kitty - I'm not going to say that I'm sorry about the asthma - it's not that I don't sympathise, but I think asthma gets far too much publicity these days and it’s all bad publicity. Asthma does not have to make a difference in how you live your life. I have lived with asthma, good and bad, since I was 3 years old – currently I have 3 inhalers which I take at least twice every day. I don’t have any particular tips for you, because I don’t know what the difference is between living with and living without asthma – it’s never made any difference to me. Although, saying that, I’ve never been hospitalised because of it. I suppose the main thing is to carry on as normal, just be aware of the things that trigger the asthma. My asthma has always been triggered by things like exercise, laughing and sudden changes in air temperature and humidity. These days, the main trigger for me seems to be stress – it makes me wake up coughing and wheezing every night – I’ve got to see our asthma nurse about it soon.
As I say, I think asthma gets far too much bad publicity these days. People always seem to assume that it is a problem for the way you live your life, and increasingly it can be treated as some kind of disability. These days, I don’t always admit to being asthmatic as I don’t see it as a problem (as long as I keep taking the inhalers) or as any kind of disability.
After all that – I suppose I do have a couple of tips - keep going as you’ve always done and keep taking the inhalers. And don’t always trust those peak flow meters – I always blow a reading far higher than I should for my height and age – I put it down to all the singing I used to do. So don’t just rely on the peak flow meter, go with how you feel.
hi Kitty, I've got asthma, I got it when I was married (along with other various ailments). It's important to keep your peak flow diary up to date, and if it drops or goes up and down keep a closer eye on it. I ended up in hospital for five days on oxygen because I had about four attacks in a weekend and didn't want to bother anyone (until my nails turned black & I felt really really poorly). they said I was lucky not to be on life support. Their advice to me was that if my peak flow drops below the lowest limit they have given you, go to the doctors and go straight on steroids, if I wake up two nights in a row coughing with asthma, then I have to go to straight to the doctor and if I have an asthma attack to call and ambulance even if I don't want to bother them (yes I am that kind of person). I know there can be too much advice and it gets overwhelming but if you need to chat or anything just message me on facebook :D
