I'm sure many of you will be pleased to know that my large pink breasts have left the building. Yes, the LCGB decided they were needed at St Richards Hospital, Chichester, where they are hopefully now teaching parents-to-be about breastfeeding.
I quite miss them sitting around the place; but I still have the pattern so could always knit more. Would it be crafty perving if I attempted to alter the pattern to make them a bit smaller? I think slightly smaller ones would be useful in so many more decorative instances.

I have a bit of dilemma. I'm not everso fond of spiders: I'm not an arachnophobe, but neither do I actively enjoy the presence of our eight-legged friends. (Don't know whether any of you reading remember a post of long ago on the subject of my encounter with another spider? I still feel guilty about that; No.1 still laughs about it.) Anyway, during the big snow earlier this month, I noticed a spider in the kitchen. This is him:

I didn't have the heart to put him out because it was freezing degrees outside and I was worried that he'd die of spidery hypothermia or something. So I just left him. He made a little web next to the bookcase in the kitchen, and within a few days had ventured along the tiles towards the hob. I spoke to him when the kids were out, the hamster was asleep and the cat was upstairs sleeping on someone's bed. That might have been a bad move - befriending him. I thought he looked a bit like a Cyril, and thus he was christened: Cyril the spider.
The thing is - the snow has gone now, and Cyril is definitely growing. Should I put him out? I've tried to hide him from No.1 as spiders trigger her scream function all too readily. Cyril is my guilty secret, I quite like his subtly stripey legs and ability to wander up walls. But I think it might be approaching the time to part company. *Sigh* Looks like a short-lived 'fun whilst it lasted' kind of thing?

I now have a few 'thank you's to deliver. Firstly to Julia at Marmalade Kiss who sent me (and lots of others - the postage must have been shocking!) some pages from an old bible she was given. The pages are huge, thick, and wonderfully aged. There were a couple of pictures in my 'wodge' along with the pages of script:

Beautiful, aren't they? Thank you so much Julia - x - I keep changing my mind as to what, precisely, I want to do with it, but be assured once I have decided, I will blog it.
●●●●●●
Now thank you to Jill for passing on this 'Lemonade Award' to me - it's a pretty one. Jill passed it on to those she could imagine sitting out having lemonade with, which makes it all the more lovely to receive. Thanks Jill - x. (If you're into handmade jewellery, you need to check out Jill's blog and her Etsy Shop - she makes beautiful things).
●●●●●●

Thank you to Julia at Primrose Corner for this Kreativ award. She didn't know it, but she really gave me a lift that day. I was having a bit of a bad day, and the email she sent after I'd left a comment to thank her for the award was so nice and kind that it put all the crubbish with which I'd been dealing back into perspective for me. Thank you Julia - you didn't know you were helping, but you did - x.

Thank you to Mr Catalyst at Oddball Observations and Dawn at Twisted Sister for this Proximidada award. They state:
"Nominated bloggers are exceedingly charming, they aim to find and be friends."
I don't know about the charming bit, but I'm always open to finding and being friends.
For those who don't know Mr Cat's blog, he is a former radio presenter who is now enjoying his retirement in sunny Arizona. He posts some fabulous photos - his blue skies and sunshine have kept me going through our long, cold British winter this year. Thanks for the award Mr Cat - x - I appreciate it.
Dawn is a sweetheart and was one of my first bloggy buddies. A wise, funny and strong woman who takes great pictures of Newfoundland where she lives, and writes about anything and everything. Don't tell her but I'd like to visit her one day and see that scenery for myself. Thanks Dawn - x.

Did you fellow owners of small people enjoy the February half term break? We certainly did. One day we went out for a pub lunch with some friends - 9 adults and all their children. There was a table of mums, a table of girls (all of them 11 and 12 - biggest, loudest table) and a table of boys. One of the boys was 13, the others were much younger. That 13 year old did sterling work. Of course the younger boys were keen to impress him (younger boys just LOVE bigger, older boys, don't they?) but I was aghast to witness them having a conversation about 'interesting facts'. No.2 announced he had a VERY interesting fact and I just knew what was coming. 'Oh yes?' said the 13 year old. 'Did you know people can fart, even after they're dead?' responded No.2. Oh God. Everyone heard it.

Us mums all clubbed together and bought 4 of these mahoosive puddings, with a pile of spoons for the kids. You can't really tell from that picture (taken from the menu) how huge the glasses are. Think 'large goldfish bowl'. Anyway, all four desserts were gone in minutes. :-O

I must apologise for not commenting on lots of blogs over the last few days. The reason was that early this week I was cooking dinner and managed to burn the fingertip 'pads' of the thumb and first three fingers of my left hand. They are still rather tender, and typing is particularly 'ouchy' (this blog post, apart from this paragraph, was written before I burned myself). I've still been reading blogs, just not commenting much. It's made me realise just how many jobs/tasks I do which rely on utilisation of fingertips/pads. Hopefully, I shall have fully functioning fingers very soon. (I am left-handed and haven't been able to sew, knit, or even be a hooker. :-( )

Right, that's enough random blabbering for today. See you next month!

I hope your poor fingers get better soon :O)
'Fraid I'm definately not a spider fan, so I think it has to be time to let Cyril go! Hope the poorly fingers are better soon too!
SHIT! I saw the pic and that was it....can't keep the page open....eeekkkkkkkkk!
My LPBs are still with me, but looking better in my new bra, even though I do say so myself :) (Mr Twigs did comment too, but he would)We had a spider living on the stairs just for the Christmas period in 2007 so we christened him Rudolph, he wandered off after the festive season, but then another appeared Christmas 2008, perhaps we have been earmarked as a spider friendly house for festive jollies or perhaps I'm going slightly mad at the thought of the ironing mountain I'm about to do :)
Hope your fingers are soon better - ouch
Twiggy x
Oh there is something Charlotte's Web-ish about your relationship with Cyril the spider, don't you think?
Yep I think it is time for Cyril to go lest he turn out to be Cyrila and you get lots of Cyrilettes hanging out in your kitchen!
Hope the fingers get better soon! It reminds me of the time I got sun burn on the soles of my feet. Couldn't do much for a while then either!
Fingers are very useful tools if you think about it too hard ... I cut mine [blunt knife] the other day and the flappy bit of skin [too much information?] has been catching on stuff so won't let me forget about it.
Like the Dylan track - not one I've heard before.
Have a good weekend everyone - 'specially Kitty.
Oh dear Kitty ... if "cyril" is expanding, do you think he might be a she? or have there been a few too many midnight feasts in your kitchen while you sleep???????? I'd relocate Cyryletta before many more cyryls appear (I can't spell cyrl)... Oooh i didn't realise there were pictures in your wadge of pages .. they are quite nice aren't they! Sorry about your fingers! Hope they get better soon! x
OH dear Luv, I have burned my hands so many times and burnred them good from holding hot foods and my tremors decide to kick in and even get jumpy resulting in such things as hot oil or scaldind soup covering a hand. OMG so painful!
So sorry about your burns, Kitty! I've lost track of how often I've done such things...Hard to to the usual when burned. Hope you'll be feeling better soon! Congrats on all your lovely awards! Oh, but that spider threw me...I hate spiders and am rather afraid of them or any creepy-crawlies...eeeekkkkk...Happy weekend to you all. :o) ((HUGS)
Hi Jackie - Thank you. It's no fun not being able to sew! x
Hi Tintock - Thank you. I don't mind spiders, they can't bite or anything, can they? x
Hi Gemma - Are you posting that whilst standing on a chair?! x
Hi Twiggy - I too am considering taking Julia's advice and trying a new size! Did the spider you had in 2008 look like Rudolph? Could it have been him or one of his offspring? A homing spider?! x
Hi Trash - Am I Wilbur?! :-O x
Kitty, I always enjoy your 'random blabbering'!!!
I can just picture No. 2's fart fact, it sounded such a familiar situation!
Hope your fingers get well soon :)
Burby x
Hi Natasha - Oh blimey, I hadn't thought of that! How on earth did you manage to burn the soles of your feet?! :-O x
Hi Nan - Oooh, ouch! Ouch! I know just what you mean about the 'flap' ... flippin' sore. Hope it heals soon. x
Hi Julia - Well, you're not the first to suggest that - see Natasha's comment. I hadn't thought of that. I had just assumed he was a growing lad. Thanks so much again for the pages - they are really lovely. x
Hi MI - Hot oil is NOT funny. I was just stupid - got new saucepans and picked one up before remembering the handles are just stainless steel :-( You forget how much burns hurt, don't you? x
Hi Tracy - I'm healing now thanks Tracy. Although the ends of my fingers and thumb are very tingly and don't like being near anything hot. Cyril isn't too big, I'm sure he wouldn't scare you. Have a great weekend. x
I befriend spiders too...much to the shock horror of my DH...I figure they keep the silverfish and woodlice numbers down :o)
Just a quickie as I have stack to do before I disappear to Iceland wooo hooo. I think you should knit some more nellies, definitely, only you should make them enooooormous, so that you can use them as cushions. How cool would that be when you have visitors!!!
Hope the fingers get better soon!
Oh dear - I struggled past the spider pic. I'm afraid he would have been put out here snow or not. Hope your fingers get better soon.
Kitty,
Nice round up, love the inetersting facts farting stuff but thats toliet humour for you
Laters
Nicey
Wow! Thanks for the shout-out, Miss Kitty!
Sorry about your poor fingers, bye, bye to your friend, who could have a family and them what, yes, some spiders bite my MD got bit and blew up like a balloon, was on meds for two weeks, I think it is time, just put him somewhere you can watch him, ouside your kitchen window?
OUCH! Poor fingers! Glad you had a good half term. Bit worried about you striking up a friendship with a strange fellow in your kitchen though (especially as you are keeping it a secret from your children - does Cyril meet their criteria???)
Lucy x
I just use a couple of fingers on my left hand to do all my typing. I never learnt properly although I am quite fast and always akkurite.
I also just use one shoe to squash spiders.
I must rememebr that next time i am way behind on google reader...sore fingers..hmm...:-)
Hi Jane - I've never befriended one before, and if it hadn't been so cold, I wouldn't have befriended Cyril! I can see where you're coming from though. x
Hi Suzy - Have a wonderful time in Iceland! Can't wait to see the piccies. A cushion boob would be quite fun - perhaps a bedroom accessory for the bachelor about town? :-O x
Hi Gina - Oh dear - sorry about that. The fingers are on the mend, thank you. x
Hi Nicey - You boys love anything to do with lavatorial humour don't you?! x
Hi Mr Cat - You're welcome! Thanks for the award. x
Hi Jane - The fingers are on the mend thank you. I think it's time for Cyril to go. That's awful for your daughter! :-O x
Hi Lucy - This strange fellow is a bit leggy for me ;-) No, I'm certain he wouldn't do well as regards The List - No.1 would scream! x
Hi Troy - Are you left-handed? Extraordinary akkurisee there - well done. Isn't it bad luck to kill a spider? You could just catch them in a yoghurt pot like what I normally do! x
Hi Jackie - I hope nothing ever stops you from doing your amazing sewing! x
Oooh Burby - I nearly missed you there - sneaking in between my commenty bits. Thank you hun. I've got no doubt your SS and my No.2 would get on like the proverbial burning building! x
Hi kitty, hope your fingers are better! Thanks for the info on the ballpoint needles, i'm going to try those. Have a lovely weekend xx
Aww - Cyril brought back such memories of my mum. Although she was also a screamer in the spider department, she would befriend them if they were living above head height - and oddly enough they were often called Cyril too!
Having said all that, I think I agre with Natasha and Julia - Cyril may well be a girl and full of web-making, scream-inducing babies, and therefore fit for eviction - whatever the weather!!
Hope your poorly burnt fingers are better soon :-( My Mum sits on my shoulder every time I take something out of the oven with a damp or too thin dishcloth - and I never learn my lesson!
xxx
I have only read as far as Cyril. I also have not read any other comments because I feared they would dissuade me from what I must say.
I love Cyril. Please allow him to feast from your home a bit longer. Although I have been known to take out most spiders when I find them and let them find a new place in the garden, leaving a few who are definitely doing their job ridding us of icky things. Plus, those egg nests they spin just freak me out. But isn't he gorgeous? I'm mostly a friend to spiders, except we must kill the black widow before it gets our dog.
okay, back to the rest of the post...
I don't own any tiny people. I have a tiny dog. And I must say that for my sake and the dog's sake, big knitted pink breasts are handy. For me, I would find them decorative. I loved yours, by the way, and I don't think your Mr. would mind if I said so. But besides that, my dog would love running after them, because they would just keep rolling and rolling.
As the carrier of a pair of small pink breasts, I would personally prefer bigger ones, but I guess small ones could be quite decorative.
We need more sock monkeys!
on candystripe legs the spiderman comes
softly through the shadow of the evening sun
stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead
looking for the victim shivering in bed
searching out fear in the gathering gloom and
suddenly!
a movement in the corner of the room!
and there is nothing i can do
when i realise with fright
that the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight!
quietly he laughs and shaking his head
creeps closer now
closer to the foot of the bed
and softer than shadow and quicker than flies
his arms are all around me and his tongue in my eyes
"be still be calm be quiet now my precious boy
don't struggle like that or i will only love you more
for it's much too late to get away or turn on the light
the spiderman is having you for dinner tonight"
and i feel like i'm being eaten
by a thousand million shivering furry holes
and i know that in the morning i will wake up
in the shivering cold
and the spiderman is always hungry...
Aww Kitty - My fingers are tender in sympathy of yours. When you start back to hooking or sewing, please hook or sew up a holder to slide over that bare metal handle.
I think it's a very thoughtful idea to send your softie breasts over to St. Richards hospital.
Re: Cyril- A spider has one life and this one chose to live it with you. The picture creeps me out but the story is very endearing. I'm willing to go along with whatever you decide in this relationship.
That dessert makes my mouth water.
You make me laugh and I've visited your blog friend's links. Thank-you so much. I love being on your blog because it's just so comfy here. see you soon xox
Ouch ! Heal quickly .
clares craftroom
i do, i really do, i have to go and listen to the rest of The Cure now and may dance. (be grateful. you don't have to watch.)
Wow, another packed month Kitty. Sorry about your poor fingers - I would have thought the salutary tale about my son's arm might have made you more careful! His burn is much better now although still not completely healed. Don't Lakeland make some silicone saucepan handle sleeve thingies (I'm sure that's the correct technical term lol!), may be worth investigating;-)
Time for Cyril to go outside to play I think - even some English spiders can bite! As Aussie spiders can be downright lethal, any spider visiting here gets very short shrift! Usually of the toxic variety....
Hi Alex - They are slowly recovering, thanks Alex. Hope the needles work for you! x
Hi Mrs Moogs - Awwww, bless her. Perhaps 'Cyril' is a very spidery name? We have a development on the Cyril front - will blog it soon. Ish. x
Hi Chris - Cyril was a non-scary spider. He didn't worry me in the slightest. Thank you for admiring my breasts - I have no Mr to give any kind of opinion, so you feel free! Perhaps there is a market for breasts for dogs to chase?! x
Hi Alison - Travelling light, eh? ;-) I think small ones are often much more decorative than overly large ones. Just a personal preference. x
Hi Mr A - They're coming soon, I promise! x
Hi Malach - thank you so much for that. It's been far too long since a man has quoted any kind of poetry to me. x
Hi Elaine - the fingers are much better now thank you. I have even begun to sew again, although I'm not quite as dextrous as usual. I'm so pleased you find it 'comfy' here ... must be all those cyber cushions I made :-D x
Hi Clare - Thank you! They're on the mend now. x
Hi Grit - Please learn to upload videos to your blog so we can watch you dance to The Cure as well as watch the triplets make bird nesting boxes. x
Hello Sharon - I was wondering just the other day how your son's arm is/was. Glad to hear it's much better. I shall go to the Lakeland site and see what I can find as regards sleeves for saucepans - that sounds a very sensible idea. Thank you. As regards spiders in Oz - I wouldn't be taking any chances either! x
definitely put the spider out!
hope your fingers have recovered now!
xx
I'm so glad you are leaving Cyril be, either inside or out. I feel so sad when people freak out about spiders.
Hope your fingers are healed soon.
its a measure of my liking for you that I even managed to get past that pic & read the rest of your post ughhh mind you I could introduce you to a redback or huntsman or even better a funnelweb bet you wouldnt have them in your kitchen !!!! anyway thanks for your comments on my bags I am going to try feet next ( on the bag silly) & a zippered closure
oops sorry meant to say sorry about your fingers .....hope they are better soon...
I don't forget how much burns hurt as I seem to find ways to remind myself on a pretty regular basis.
Damn hands!
This is why I DON'T sew. Can you see me with needles? ha!
Quite kind of you to think of the poor spiders safety. As it's warming up I'm sure Cyril will appreciate your garden much more than the house. Hope your fingers get to feeling better soon. I tagged you in a meme and also am giving you an award on my Blog (Monday).
How brave you are with the spider friend... I always ask my dh to friendly search for another place for our spider house friends...
hope your fingers are getting better real quick!
Gosh Kitty, your new pet!! I hope he doesn't get with the spider I have mooching around here or else the babies will be the size of my foot!
However, Lucy seems to protect me greatly from the spiders...
Hope you are well hun!
xxx
Man, I am totally in agreement with you when it comes to spiders. I do take things one step farther though. When I see them I instinctively swat, stomp, scream like a girl, or run. I can't see just letting one get away.
You can come and visit any time... just leave Cyril at home or you will be triggering my scream function :)
xo
Fantastic blog.
Icky spider. Though they do not scare me. So it's ok.
I look forward to keep visiting :0)
I wish I could bake a cake...
Much love xxx
I shall try and remember to check in every Monday as you fair brighten up my Monday morning blues!
I even said out loud "aw" when reading about Cyril. Why? Cyril is a spider, not a cutey kitten or puppy but a spider, we do not "aw" over spiders! Having said that I think you should keep him and update us on his trials and tribulations in the Kitty household!
Hope your burned fingers are healing. (hugs)
Anne
Oh ouch, are you being driven mad by your inability to do crafty stuff? Hope the fingers are better soon.
Re Cyril - definitely eviction time. We've had a few whoppers here recently. Mr Earplugs doesn't like them any more than me but if he's here then they fall under his 'remit'! We had a monster on the end of the curtain pole - very tricky place re catching him. I'm afraid he went up the hoover. I felt terrible as he was hanging on for dear life despite having a dyson up his backside!
Hi WW - The spider has now left the building, and the fingers are much better, thanks. x
Hi HTGT - I used to be much more worried about spiders than I am now. The fingers are much better, thank you. x
Hi Quilty - Awww, bless you. The spiders you have over there are way scarier than anything we have here. I wouldn't give a spider houseroom if it were an Aussie spider! The bags you made were just gorgeous. x
Hi MI - Poor you (((MI))) I get why you don't sew. I stab myself regularly too, and needles and pins DO hurt. x
Hi Ron - Thank you, the fingers are much better. Thanks for the tag and for thinking of me for the award - I'll be sure to check it out. x
Hi Heleen - When there was a man around the house, I did used to ask him to deal with spiders. Now there's no man I have I to do it myself ... and as a result am no longer as frightened of them! The fingers are much better, thank you. x
Hi Lily - Did you get the last email I sent you? About finding other bloggers who 'do' runes? You have a big spider living there too? It must be the year of the pet spider! x
Hi Mike - You're such a hero. ;-) x
Hi Dawn - Cyril doesn't have a passport, so I wouldn't be able to bring him. He'd probably need injections or something anyway?! x
Hi TLOM - Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. I've visited you so know you are new to the blogosphere - welcome - I hope you have fun here. I'm sure you can bake a cake: flour, eggs, sugar, butter. That's it! Take care. :-)
Hi Anne - Awww, bless you. I promise there will be a Cyril update soon, ok? The fingers are much better, thank you. x
Hi Tilly - It's not much fun not being able to craft. I tried to do stuff like read patterns, and look at books to get inspiration. But the fingers are now able to hold a needle again now - hooray! I can imagine that having a Dyson up one's backside would not be a comfortable state of affairs. Mind you 'living' on the end of a curtain pole was a bit silly! Hope all is well with you and the bump? x
Nasty. I hate spiders. I would have turned Cyril out to pasture long ago. Hope your fingers are all healed by now.
Hi SS - Awww, poor Cyril. He really wasn't scary at all you know. The fingers are all better, thank you. x
