'Strology
Have you seen those memes or question-and-answer 'interviews' in magazines which ask you (or a famous person) t I'm aware that there are lots of folks out there who think and say "astrology is a load of bollocks", which is fine by me; we'll just agree to disagree. I have never sought to convince anyone else to buy into my opinions on anything, the subject of astrology is no different. I can't remember when I first became interested in the subject. I do recall my parents giving my brother and I some money when we were children, to go and get a comic to take away on holiday with us. He bought the prescribed comic, but I came out of the newsagents with Old Moore's Almanac, and proceeded to spend many hours that summer with my head buried in its off white, stinky-printer-ink pages. After a few years of reading books on the subject, I started my formal studies in 1989; and I would like to publicly thank Penny Thornton for her time, tips, kindness and the encouragement she gave me in that respect. I would also like to thank my tutor Cicely, who showed endless patience and wisdom in the years she spent teaching and working with me. Most people who rubbish astrology haven't bothered to study it - I guess they've already decided it's not for th I don't read newspaper or magazine horoscopes, but I acknowledge they are (usually) based on correct astronomical and astrological activity. However, those people who say 'how can that forecast be pertinent for one twelfth of the population?' are absolutely right in my book. The sort of astrology I'm interested in needs a full natal - which in turn requires an accurate time, date and place of birth. Nobody has the same chart as anyone else - unless they are born at EXACTLY the same time, in the same place, on the same day. Each of us is truly unique, as is our individual chart. In my world, astrology is used as a practical tool and always has been. I view it as something akin to a celestial weather forecast, and just as a weather forecast doesn't stop us doing anything we are determined to do, nor does astrology negate our free will. If you are determined to go for a picnic on Tuesday but the weather man tells you it's going to persist down, it doesn't physically stop you going does it? If he's got it right, the worst than can happen is that you get soggy sandwiches and/or damp doughnuts, but it might have been more enjoyable if you had chosen another day to picnic. So it is with astrology - a transit, direction, progression, harmonic, midpoint or return chart won't make you do something you don't want to (or stop you doing anything) - but it sure as hell might help you to understand why you want to do whatever you're intent on doing, and give an insight into when you might be most successful in your endeavours. It can also tell you when life is likely to be persisting down - thus allowing you to be prepared for any likelihood of your metaphorical doughnuts becoming very damp indeed. © Author
o say something about yourself that not many people know? To divulge something surprising about yourself? Well here's one of mine for you ... I am a fully qualified astrologer. I studied for 6 years with The Faculty of Astrological Studies and gained first my Certificate (on completion of the Foundation Course and exam) and then my full Diploma (for which the exams are very demanding). This is generally considered to be a darned fine qualification in astrology, and entitles me to put 'D.F.Astrol.S' after my name should I so wish (though I never have).
em. I can't pretend to know precisely how it 'works' - people with far more intelligence than me have contemplated the issue and come to no firm conclusion, so I won't tax my brain trying. I certainly don't believe that the planets are exerting some sort of physical power over us - although most people recognise that the Sun and Moon do have a physical impact on each and every one of us. As far as I'm concerned it's a richly symbolic language, which gives those who know how to use it tremendous insight into many aspects of life and human nature.

Wasn't Nostradmus a believer? I'm sure he mentioned astrology in a letter to his son. I'm not a believer myself. We Capricorns are very sceptical.
Afternoon GB ... I'm not quite sure what Nostradamus believed in other than the validity of cryptic and rhyming quatrains.
A Capricornian Gorilla ... hmmm, a bit of the horny old goat about your jungle-wanderings perhaps?
I have a fair amount of Capricorn featured in my chart too, like a fine wine, we improve as we age. ;-)
I'd love a Kittylicious filled astrological reading for my fine Libran self if you don't mind :p (He-mail me, bitte).
Danke Schön

Dear P ... Careful examination of Uranus reveals you are slowly turning Deutschen! I'll catch you on msn or via email - take care :-) x
Nice to see the astrology get an airing Kitty. Well written as always :)
I have an interest in astrology, albeit not as qualified! I agree with you when you say its richly symbolic...
Its similar to when I do my Rune readings. Although as yet I just do these for myself at the moment as its taking bloomin ages to get to know the symbols adequately!
Its looking great here Kitty BTW!!

Hiya Sas ... thank you! I know you, for one, are always aware of when your doughnuts might get damp. :-D xx
Hello Mel - I know precisely zilch about runes other than that they are little wooden or stone things with curious markings.
As for your being the 'gorgeous tubmonsterbirds' ... if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it IS a duck!
Hope you're feeling better - take care :-) xx
Kitty what a wonderful thing to learn about you! I have been making my living off the backs of astrologers for a few years now! I created a horoscope and astrology directory a few years ago just for fun and today it receives 120,000 unique visitors a month. (http://thehoroscopejunkie.ca) I have a special liking for John Haye's and Paul Wade as they were among the first to exchange links with me. I have also worked with Terry Nazon who has provided me with numerous articles.
It's a small world after all!
Hey Kitty...
I love me runes but they take almost a lifetime to learn and then some more..I have had runes for nearly 2 years now and still dont really know all the symbols...
I did make some and did a bloggy blog about that, but I think I shall doa blog about the Runes too!
I am feeling better thanks..Hope you are too! *quack quack*

Dawn - Wow! What a coinkydenky - do you dabble in any astrology yourself? It's just something which has become a (small) part of my life and which I find incredibly useful. I had a look at your site and have bookmarked it so I can have a longer visit at some point. Thanks for that. Take care. x
Mel - I remember that blog you did about making your own runes. Yes, you should do a blog about actually using them - I'd be really interested in knowing something about their background.
The cold is drying up now, so yes, feeling a lot better thanks. Take care. xx
I'm reading a book right now which spends a lot of time on astrology, particularly the transitions from one house to the next, and how the ancients passed along all kinds of information thru the myths, warning us (i think) about these transitional periods.
All very interesting...
Hi there Ticharu - sounds like an interesting book. The astrologer Liz Greene has written quite extensively about the links between astrology and myth, her books are always thought-provoking. Transits of planets (especially the outer ones) through houses and signs makes for 'interesting times' ... as Pluto completes its transit of Sagittarius, there will be much theorising as to what it will do when it travels through Capricorn - the sign of Governments all over the world.
Nice to see you - take care :-)
I'm thinking that my blog may be devoted mainly to astrology. Time will tell. Have added an astrology post recently and may well do a follow up one soon
Hi Sas ... that sounds like a great idea. If you have 'astrology' as one of your interests in your profile, you should be able to look at your profile, click on the word 'astrology' and be directed to other bloggers who have the same interest. I'll be on there somewhere ;-)
I'll be over to read your latest one soon. x
Thanks for the tip Kitty :)Of course I'm a Gemini so I ay yet change my mind LOL
